A new store can fail because the product lacks demand, the offer is unclear, unit economics do not work, delivery disappoints buyers or acquisition costs more than the resulting contribution. These causes need different fixes. More advertising cannot solve all of them; first locate the point where the buyer or the economics breaks down.

No meaningful interest: investigate the product and audience
If real potential buyers do not recognize the problem or comparison advantage, return to product validation. Check whether the product has a credible use case, suitable market and supplier you can actually serve. “Trending” is a signal to investigate, not proof your version will sell.
Interest without orders: inspect the promise
Ask what visitors understand about the item, price, delivery and returns. Test the page and checkout on a phone. A product page with borrowed photos or vague claims may bring clicks but leave buying questions unanswered. Use the product-page checklist before redesigning the entire site.
Orders without profit: inspect the ledger
Record product and shipping costs, fees, ad spend, returns and customer-support time. If contribution per order is negative, more volume can deepen the loss. Price, sourcing, bundle and channel decisions may matter more than a prettier ad.
First customers without repeat trust: inspect operations
Sample what customers actually receive, whether tracking is accurate and how quickly support resolves problems. Shopify's dropshipping explanation makes clear that outsourced fulfillment does not outsource the merchant's relationship with the buyer. A store is an operating business, not a passive-income machine.
Change one likely cause, run a bounded test and keep the result. Without this diagnosis, a new theme, supplier or campaign may simply restart the same failure.
Identify whether the first break is demand, page comprehension, checkout, contribution or fulfillment; fix that break before paying for more traffic.
